Aeroseparator Vs Pneumovibrating Table

Air separator vs Pneumatic vibration table

To clarify the question, I will use the results of our research carried out two days ago.

We have developed friendly relations with farmer Popovich Artur Simonovich (SFG "Yenisei"). He bought equipment from us and calibrates the seeds efficiently. Then the calibrated fraction is sent to an air separator to separate the seeds by density (weight 1000 pieces, “natural”). The seeds from the first drops of the air separator, as the heaviest ones, are sown.

As a very inquisitive and experienced farmer, Artur Simonovich has repeatedly wondered whether there is a difference in the quality of separation based on the density of calibrated seeds on an air separator and on a pneumatic vibrating table.

To answer this question, we decided to do the following. He sends me barley seeds ready for sowing, pre-calibrated by size on Fadeev sieves (passage through a 3.0 sieve and exit from a 2.8 sieve) and passed through an air separator twice with the same result - a weight of 1000 pieces. of which there are 50 g. And we pass this batch of seeds through a pneumatic vibration table.

So they did. The results are shown in the photographs.

Strictly calibrated in size and shape and winnowed twice on an air separator, the seeds are not much different in appearance. But the pneumatic vibrating table showed that in the averaged sample (weight 1000 pieces 50 g) seeds with a mass of 53 g to 44 g per 1000 seeds were mixed, which were successfully divided into 4 fractions according to this indicator on the pneumatic vibrating table.

So, the essence of gentle fractional technology is precisely to separate STRONG SEEDS, weight 1000 pcs. which are from 50 g and above. And the rest should not be sown, i.e. do not occupy sown areas with weak seeds.

As can be seen from the graph, such seeds (strong) include 70% of the volume of grain prepared for sowing on an air separator.

It is clear that no air machine will provide such a separation, and the material had already been passed through the air separator twice before it hit the pneumatic vibration table. The results of Artur Simonovich were disappointing. This is understandable - for several years I sowed seeds with full confidence that I would not get anything better, and suddenly it turns out that they contain about 30% of frankly weak seeds.

And then according to the classics - Arthur Simonovich is my friend, but the truth is more precious!
